Hall & Hall Engineers, Inc. began in 1953 with a one-room office in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Today, Hall & Hall provides Municipal Civil Engineering, Land Development Civil Engineering, Traffic and Transportation Engineering, Landscape Architecture, and Land Surveying services for projects of all sizes for municipalities, utilities, roads, schools, businesses and industries across the Midwest.

We are currently looking to add a Transportation Engineer with Traffic Engineering Experience to our Public / Municipal Team. The ideal candidate will have the following qualities:
· 8+ years’ experience working in Transportation Engineering, with Traffic Engineering experience.
· Iowa P.E. license, or the ability to obtain Iowa licensure within 6 months of being hired.
· Good written and verbal communication skills required.
· Experience working directly with Clients.
· Experience Preparing Traffic Impact Studies / Reports.
· Experience with CAD Civil 3D design software and working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook (Word & Excel) is preferred.
· Experience working on Municipal Projects and with Municipal Clients is preferred.
· Experience with designing Roundabouts is preferred.
· Experience with designing Traffic Signals is preferred.
Essential Duties Include:
· Plan, organize and lead the daily engineering design activities in the accomplishment of client project tasks. Identify and manage project priorities to meet client, team, and company goals.
· Function as a contact point for the client concerning the engineering aspects of their project. Facilitate good communications among the client, all HHE departments, team groups and applicable governing bodies.
· Attend and participate in initial meetings regarding new project proposals as well as new project kickoffs to ensure a clear understanding of the complete project in order to be able to effectively contribute to the preparation of proposals and facilitate the proper completion of assigned tasks.
· Review and approve the technical approach to project tasks; and, intermediate and finished work product to ensure that they meet objectives of client while adhering to local, state, and federal laws. Also, assure compliance with company quality assurance/control standards. Review the research and data necessary for the design of the project, such as zoning conditions, latest design standards, existing utility information, environmental issues, topographic surveys, etc.
· Coordinate with applicable government agencies and attend meetings as appropriate to ensure that client projects comply with agency regulations and are approved by them.
· Design and prepare plan of improvements & construction documents, facilitate bidding and construction administration.
3 -15 years of experience in Civil Engineering Design
Graduated from a 2-year Technical School or equivalent
A working knowledge of CAD design software is required
Ability to plan and conduct independent work
Valid Driver’s License
Good written and verbal communication skills
Ability to read and understand site engineering plans
Preparation of site design drawings while utilizing AutoCAD. Typical duties include site plan drafting, site grading design with lead engineer direction, parking lots and roadway design.
Experience utilizing Pipe Networks within Autodesk is preferred.
Ability to research governing codes and standards.
Ability to complete quantity takeoffs and preparing/modifying cost estimates
Organizing and managing electronic files
2-6 years of experience in Civil Design and Engineering Techniques
Graduated from an accredited engineering school
Licensure is not necessary (I.E. is preferred)
A working knowledge of CAD design software and Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to plan and conduct independent work
Valid Driver’s License
Good written and verbal communication skills
Ability to read and understand site engineering plans
Preparation of site design drawings while utilizing AutoCAD. Typical facets of design include site plan drafting, site grading, basic drainage and storm sewer calculations, parking lots and roadway design.
Perform design and analysis calculations using engineering formulas. Ability to research governing codes and standards to confirm calculations comply.
Ability to complete quantity takeoffs and preparing/modifying cost estimates
Research design alternatives
Review shop drawings
Perform field activities such as observing and recording existing field conditions, take and verify measurements at construction sites
Organize, draft, and coordinate technical documents
